NFLS BCA Cocurricular Activities
At Nanjing Foreign Language School British Columbia Academy (NFLS BCA), we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Our extensive range of cocurricular activities (CCAs) reflects our commitment to holistic student development. With over 40 official and affiliated clubs, students have ample opportunities to explore their interests, develop core competencies, cultivate their passions, and build lasting friendships. We encourage all students to take advantage of the diverse opportunities available and make the most of their time at NFLS BCA.
● Basketball: Our basketball club compete in local and regional tournaments, fostering a sense of camaraderie and competitive spirit.
● Football: Both boys’ and girls’ soccer teams train rigorously and participate in inter-school competitions.
● Rugby: Our volleyball clubs is known for their skill and sportsmanship, competing at various levels.
● Badminton: Students can join the badminton team to improve their agility and coordination while competing in friendly matches.
● Fitness: Encourages healthy lifestyles through varied workouts, fitness challenges, and peer support to reach personal goals.
● Handball: Focuses on teamwork, coordination, and technique, organizing drills and matches for handball enthusiasts.
● Table Tennis: Students can hone their reflexes and strategic thinking by joining the table tennis team.
● Frisbee: Teaches ultimate frisbee fundamentals and teamwork.
Official Sports Clubs
Our sports clubs are designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and school spirit. Students can participate in a variety of sports, including:
● Biology Club: This club offers hands-on experiments and discussions on various biological topics.
● Programming Club: Explores coding, software development, and problem-solving through hands-on projects.
● Rock Band Club: Unites music enthusiasts to practice and perform rock songs together.
● French Club: Offers students a chance to learn about French culture, language, and cuisine.
● Spanish Club: Offers students a chance to learn about Spanish culture, language, and cuisine.
● Film Club: Encourages students to explore filmmaking, from scriptwriting to editing, and to showcase their work.
● Art Club: Encourages creativity in drawing, painting, and other media.
● Drama Club: Provides a platform for students to develop their acting skills and participate in school productions.
● Choir Club: Students can explore their singing talents and gain opportunities to perform in school events.
● Microfilm Production: Introduces short filmmaking from storyboarding to editing in producing microfilms.
● Model United Nations (MUN): Engages students in global issues, developing diplomacy skills, and participating in conferences.
● Reading Club: Unites book lovers to discuss novels, share recommendations, and deepen their appreciation of literature.
● BCA Barista Club: Teaches coffe-making and practical business skill for those who want to run the student-led coffee shop.
● Detective AIM: Engages students in mystery-solving, puzzles, and analytical challenges, honing logical thinking and teamwork.
● Dance Club: Celebrates various dance styles, offering choreography sessions and performance opportunities for students.
● Philosophy Club: Fosters lively debates on ethics, knowledge, and life’s big questions.
Official Clubs
Our official clubs cater to a wide range of interests, providing students with opportunities to develop new skills and pursue their passions. Some of the official clubs available for the 2024-25 academic year include:
● Mythology Club: Studies myths and legends from different cultures.
● ACG Club: Celebrates anime, comics, and gaming through discussions and activities.
● Linguistics Club: Examines languages and how they work.
● Media Pro Workshop: Learn about photography and videography while helping to record school events.
● Movie Club: Views and discusses films from various genres.
● Astronomy Club: Explores stars, planets, and space through observation and discussion.
● Chinese Dancing Club: Practices traditional and modern Chinese dance styles.
● Chinese Calligraphy Club: Practices the art of traditional Chinese writing.
Affiliated Clubs
In addition to our official clubs, NFLS BCA also supports a number of affiliated clubs that are student-initiated and run. These clubs allow students to take the lead in organizing activities and events, fostering leadership and organizational skills. Some of the affiliated clubs include:
